OGDEN — The Woods Cross Wildcats have been pushing up the hill of close matches most of the season. On Tuesday night all of that work paid off as the Wildcats captured a brutal, five-game match over Bonneville, (25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-8).

The Cats jumped out in game on, pulling away late to win 25-20. Game two was picked up by a rejuvenated Laker squad 25-19. Woods Cross was able to put the match to the brink winning the third game 25-23.

When Bonneville picked up game four 25-23, nightmares of five game losses might have easily creaped into the minds of the Wildcats. But on this night, it was Woods Cross stepping up big and getting the job done, putting the hammer to the Lakers 15-8 to take the match.

Woods Cross was led by Ashley Lovell’s spectacular play as she set her way to 31 assists. Taking advantage of Lovell’s sets were Alyssa McEwan who had 11 kills and Justine Meleisa finished with 10 kills.
