Road construction continues throughout Davis County as Utah Department of Transportation crews take advantage of warm, dry weather.

Through Thursday, Aug. 6, as part of the ExpressLinks project on I-15, the north-and southbound lanes are in the “ 3 lanes by 2 lanes” configuration.

Daily shifting of the moveable barrier is providing three lanes of travel in the peak direction. For more information on the ExpressLinks project in North Salt Lake, call the hotline at 888-556-0232, or go to the website at www.udot.utah.gov/expresslink

Traffic has been moved to the eastbound lanes on the 500 South Project, between 800 West and 1100 West, in West Bountiful. Installation of storm drains along the north side of the road from 1100 West to 1600 West, and pipeline work is being carried out this week, with paving of the westbound lanes expected later in August/Early September.

Generally, traffic impacts are minimal as the majority of work is occurring on the side of the road. For more information call the 500 South Construction Hotline at (801) 904-4112 or email davis500south@utah.gov.

Excavation on the southwest quadrant of the 1000 W. intersection will begin this week in Syracuse. During this work, the dedicated right turn lane on this leg of the intersection will be closed to traffic. Right turns will still be allowed from the through lane. Other work to excavate and grade the south side for the new road will continue during the daylight hours.

Also through Thursday, work is under way on a project to widen or re-stripe SR-108 (2000 West) with pedestrian curb ramp upgrades.

Most of the work around Syracuse Elementary and Junior High schools is nearing completion. Most work will be conducted during weekdays though occasional weekend work may occur, with one lane of traffic being maintained in each direction most of the time.

Excavation also continues this week in the northeast corner of the intersection of Antelope Drive 2000 West, between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., in order to place several utility lines.

The right-turn pocket for westbound to northbound traffic is no longer in place and the right-turn is very tight. As a result, large trucks headed westbound on Antelope Drive desiring to turn north on SR-108, cannot make the turn. Instead, they should plan ahead, so as to approach the intersection on 2000 West from the south.

Local residents will experience some construction related noise and vibration, as well as the usage of bright construction lights during these nighttime operations.

Full-slab concrete section replacement continues on I-15 between milepost 331 and 334 in Clearfield, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, and on Friday's until 1 p.m. Crews are cutting out damaged sections of the concrete roadway and replacing them with precast concrete sections. Because of this work lanes will be closed on I-15, with the lanes being repaired changing intermittently. Electronic message boards will precede the sections being worked on, so motorists should watch for these signs, reduce speeds, and be aware of the lanes closures ahead.

On I-15, north of the Main Street overpass in Layton and at the Main Street overpass, lane restrictions will be in affect while crews conduct boring sampling adjacent to the highway.

Crews are repaving US-89 from South Weber Drive to 200 North in Kaysville, starting with preliminary shoulder and bridge work prior the onset of construction on the section between South Weber Drive and SR-193.

Lanes may be restricted during this preliminary work. Re-paving work will begin on Saturday, August 8. For more information about this project email us89repave@orangeconeinfo.com or call 888-556-0232. This project should last eight weeks.

Work is nearly complete on the reconstruction of the intersection off SR-107 and 3000 West in West Point. The new traffic signal has been installed but is not yet operational. Lanes may be restricted from time to time.

And,work continues this week from 800 North to 1300 North on a project to widen to re-stripe SR-108 (2000 West). Work includes roadway excavation, grading and placement of road base followed by placement of curb, gutter and paving. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction most of the time.

This week in Clinton crews continue roadway work on SR-108, between 2300 North to 6000 South, including roadway excavation and grading, to be followed by placement of new road base prior to paving. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction most of the time.

Motorists should slow down, be aware of workers in the roadway, and be prepared to stop. when driving in any construction zone.
