The closing, according to a statement, comes as a result of M3B Partners, LLC, in Salt Lake City purchasing all of the assets from JL Theatres, which ran the Gateway 8 as well as three other theater locations in Utah.
Further information about the status of the movie theater have not been released.
For complete coverage, see Thursday’s issue of the Clipper.

Gateway 8 Cinemas is no longer. This building is being leased out now by Cinemark who is doing a MASSIVE remodel. Possible opening date will be in May. They are hoping to have "Value" pricing. Where you get first run movies when they come out with cheaper ticket prices. Looks like they might be 3D capable too. Cinemark Bountiful 8 will be soooooo much better than ewwwwy gross Gateway 8. Cheers!
-New/clean floors
-Better sound system/sound quality
-Sound proof walls (Interesting how even though there is bad sound quality, the movie can be heard in the theater next to it.)
-Stadium seating would be nice for those who are vertically challenged.
-Digital screen.
If these things can be accomplished the theater will be successful and will bring more money to Bountiful.
I would LOVE to start going back to these theaters again instead of Salt Lake... IF everything can be redone. Inevitably, every time I go to this theater, I can hear the other movies going on. The floors are always sticky and the chairs are horrible. If you are going to leave it in this condition, then at least let it be a dollar show... because to pay $7-$9 per ticket is ridiculous for this theater... I would rather drive a little bit further into Salt Lake for a movie theater that does it right.
