American Legion starts honor guard services

FARMINGTON ó The American Legion wants to make sure that every veteran gets the honor guard they deserve. ##M:MORE##

The American Legionís Farmington Post 27 will be starting a program to provide honor guard services to veterans and their families, as well as color guards for community needs. The organization of the teams who will be providing those services will begin on Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the county clerkís conference room at the Davis County Courthouse. All veterans interested in taking park are welcome to attend.

ìA pool of 15 to 20 participants will be needed to provide the necessary training to those who will answer the call,î said Post Commander William Huber.

Training for the newly formed teams will begin on Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. at Woodland Park in Farmington.

Services that will likely be offered by the teams include flag presentations and gun salutes at veteransí funerals, color guards for community parades or other occasions, and the posting and retrieving of colors where needed.
