The road is one that will run north and south in west Farmington, around the Station Park area. Owner/Developer Rich Haws has already designated an 80-foot right-of-way corridor where sidewalk and street improvements will be made.
ìGetting an agreement between what Rich is going to do and what the city needs to do is where weíre going,î said Farmington City Mayor, Scott Harbertson.
Farmington City council approved moving forward with the project, with the agreement that Haws will observe the right-of-way corridor, and city council will reimburse Haws for larger pipes needed.
ìThe one thing to getting this approved is that in the past, they promised a road to the north that would bring jobs and have an immediate impact on businesses,î said Harbertson.
The road to the north is meant to encourage business in the west Farmington area, and may be a thru street for Station Park. The road will go from Park Lane, into Burke Lane and toward Shepherd Lane, running north and south.
The larger, 10-foot pipes, will require the road to be 55 feet wide instead of 50. The extra feet and larger pipes are what the city council will have to reimburse Haws for.
