CENTERVILLE ó Viewmontís varsity hockey team finished the Salt Lake Summer High School League on Friday with a 7 - 4 loss to Juan Diego.

The Vikings finished the summer league with a 9 - 2 - 1 record, good for third place out of 17 high school teams. The locals will take the first step toward winning the state tournament hosting Skyline on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 7:45 p.m. at the West Valley Accord Ice Center. ##M:MORE##

The tournament is a single elimination style for the summer league championship.

Viewmont fought back several times through the first two periods to eventually tie the score at 4 - 4 behind a pair of goals by junior Adam Davis, and individual goals from senior Chris Russell and freshman Dexter Ranck.

Viewmont could not find an answer all night for Juan Diegoís star player and captain, Alex Halloran.

Halloran scored six of seven goals for Juan Diego. Halloran was also a star player on Juan Diegoís 2006 - 2007 state championship team.

The Aug. 6 game against Skyline is a re-match of a summer league game that ended in a 7 - 7 tie.

Admission to the game is free.
