Editor:

I am for recycling but have been against mandatory recycling. I have one can and seldom fill it up more than half way so the extra $3 isnít going to reduce any can for me. ##M:MORE##But I changed my mind and applaud the city fathers for the move to mandatory recycling. Why?† First with the cost of†fuel, I canít drive to any recycle bin and back a couple of times a month for $3. That alone is good enough for me but there are added benefits, I can sort the recycling out at home and put it out on the curb and I will have a much cleaner garage and it wonít be falling all over my trunk on the trip†to recycling.† It will also improve†my recycling.††So you can see what an advantage it is to have higher fuel costs.† All of a sudden curbside recycling makes economic sense.† The city will also be able to clean up the recycle eyesore on Second West.† Itís a whole new world out there.† All will be bright and beautiful.† Our city fathers acted quickly to do the right thing for me and the city landfill will now last long enough for me to live out my life.†
