Each of the grant recipients will use wireless HP Tablet PC technology to enhance learning in multiple disciplines and with a focus on math and science, of which Centerville Elementary has created a project.
The theme and name of the project is Centerville Science Investigators. The school plans to have student investigators going into the field, collecting samples, taking pictures, conducting experiments and recording data on a tablet PC.
Those students would also make discoveries and present their findings with their peers as well as professional mentors from the community in the field of science.
Fifth and sixth grade teachers on the team said they realized that the students in these grades fell below the district average in sciences and wanted to take action to raise the end of level scores through focusing on the areas that needed the most focus. Teachers are planning investigations that will engage students in taking ownership and learning concepts and enjoy the learning process.
