FARMINGTON ó City officials will be considering an affordable housing grant from bond funds that were taken for re-development in 2001. A large chunk of the bond will have to be paid off, but with whatís left over, Farmington City has several options. Spending money on fixing homes occupied by lower-income families in the historical district was something the city will be looking at.##M:MORE##

ìWe want to preserve that historical district and keep those homes from falling into disrepair,î said Farmington City Manager, Max Forbush.

From the bonds that will be paid off, the money left will only be used for affordable housing. It is possible that Farmington City will offer grants to qualified lower-income families for improvements on older homes. However, those families will also need to pitch in a certain amount to show their willingness to work.

Details on the leftover funds will be discussed further at a later date.
