“They run that Wing T offense and do a great job with it,” said Davis coach Ryan Bishop. “They are very disciplined and well coached and I expect them to be very good.”
Riverton may be the best 7-3 football team in the state. The Silverwolves have only dropped games to Region 3 rival Bingham, Timpanogas and Pleasant Grove.
“They are a very good team that has played a tough schedule and are much better than their record indicates,” Bishop said.
The Darts have been a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of a team this year. The team that beat Viewmont and appeared to be on a roll then fell to a tough Syracuse team Friday night, which put them into the third position from Region 1.
Bishop believes his team is ready and excited about the challenge of playing Riverton.
“It’s always tough to get beat, especially in a close game,” Bishop said. “But we have met as a team and we’ve talked about the fact that the Syracuse game and season is behind us and it’s time to look forward.”
“We’ve played 10 games to be in the position to play in the state playoffs. Now everyone has a clean slate and it’s win or go home.”
The Darts have been anchored by a stellar defense that has not given up many points or long drives this year.
On the other side of the ball the offense has had moments whee it has looked powerful; other times when it has struggled.
“This is a fun time of year and we’re looking forward to playing Friday.”
