N. Layton to hold career fair

LAYTON — On Tuesday, Sept. 29, North Layton Junior High School will host its seventh-grade career fair. From jobs in public safety to piloting a helicopter, students will see what is involved in a variety of jobs. For more information, contact Lynette Nielson at 801-402-6612.

Syracuse talks about Columbine

SYRACUSE — On Wednesday, Sept. 30, students at Syracuse Junior High School will hear the story of Rachel Scott, the first person killed at Columbine High School in Colorado. As her parents began to pick up the pieces after her death, they discovered several diaries with Rachel’s life philosophy. They have now formed a nonprofit organization titled Rachel’s Challenge. Following an assembly at 9 a.m., there is a training session for students who want to do something good for other people. An evening session at 7 p.m. welcomes parents to see what their children have seen.

Knowlton shows respect

Davis schools to take a recess

DAVIS COUNTY — Thursday and Friday, Oct. 1-2, is fall recess for all of the Davis School District. All schools and district offices will be closed those days.

Lincoln features reading garden
