I am dismayed that few Davis County residents and many cities’ elected representatives are unaware that we were victims of the Legislature’s gerrymandering activities in 2001. Because of this, many North Salt Lake City residents were placed in a voting district with voters in the Rose Park, Salt Lake City, area!
To make certain this gerrymandering which occurred here and in several other areas of the state and was aimed at both Republican and Democratic candidates, the Fair Boundaries (Redistricting) initiative proposes to place this issue before the voters in 2010 if enough registered voters sign the now circulating petitions. I urge all Davis County voters to support this initiative, as well as the much needed Ethics Reform initiative. Watch for our volunteers at your local businesses and in your neighborhood who will be seeking your signature supporting these important initiatives!
