KAYSVILLE - Barnes Bancorp Inc., a Kaysville banking icon, was shut down by the state Friday following a lengthy investigation by federal regulators.

Salt Lake City based Zions Bank has been selected to manage the assets of the Deposit Insurance National Bank of Kaysville, the agency set up to take over the assets of Barnes Bank. Checks will be mailed Tuesday to those holding the bank's IRAs and CDs. Meanwhile, deposits and other accounts are insured by the FDIC for up to $250,000.

The bank was open Saturday morning under Zions' management and is to open Tuesday for a transition period. See Thursday's Clipper for complete details.
