KAYSVILLE — The Davis Darts are in a dog fight that will go down to the last week of the regular season for the Region 1 title.

The Darts and the Fremont Silverwolves split their regular season games and with that any hiccup could cause either team the chance for the No. 1 seed coming out of Region 1.

Davis will host Syracuse Friday while Fremont plays at Weber.

“We can’t really worry too much about what other teams do,” said Davis coach Jay Welk. “We just have to take care of our business.”

Davis survived a some wild games recently as they beat Viewmont in overtime and then blew open a close game against Fremont in the 4th quarter before laying the wood to Roy Tuesday night.

Viewmont remains in a solid spot in the third position in Region 1.

On the docket in Region 6 Tooele will travel to Bountiful while Olympus, travels to Highland who sits in third place in Region 6.

Olympus is actually in second place by virtue of the Braves beating the Titans in their first head-to-head contest.

“We have to be careful not to overlook anyone at this point of the season,” said Bountiful coach Mike Maxwell. “It would be a huge mistake to overlook Tooele because they could come in here and take one from us and that would be disappointing.”

The state basketball tournaments are in upcoming weeks.
