“The girls came out focused and ready to go,” said Bountiful coach Joel Burton. “We weren’t real pleased with the way we finished our last game even though it was a win so the girls just came out focused and ready to go.”
Bountiful took a 21-12 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Lakers chipped into the lead to cut it to 26-20 after three quarters of play.
“We were playing well but the girls really cranked it up a notch offensively in the final eight minutes,” Burton said.
Bountiful went on a 23-17 tear in that final quarter to put away Bonneville and advance to the second round of the tournament.
“We’ve been looking for that signature win and I think this and the last regular season games showed us and other people what we are all about,” Burton said. “I’m hoping these last three games and what we have coming up with help bring more kids out in the future.”
Bountiful was knocked out of the tournament Tuesday night by Mountain View.
“We’ll be back,” Burton said.
