Woods Cross High School’s upcoming dinner theater production, “Scream and Shout,” is a musical revue-style show that will cross such wide terrain as “High School Musical,” “Aida,” “Spamalot,” and “Aladdin.”
“There’s so much energy because it’s such a big song-and-dance show,” said director Janet Cook. “It’s not anything we’ve repeated before, so even for people who have come before it will be brand new.”
Some of the numbers will include a modern adaptation of a duet from “Scarlet Pimpernel,” and for an offstage taste a Josh Grobin number will be performed with a violinist.
Brittany Kate Bowman, a music, dance, and theater major at BYU and student professor in jazz dance, has also come up to choreograph some of the show.
“It’s been a blast,” she said of the experience. “I went to high school here, so I love coming back.”
An a la carte menu will also be offered at the show, with table seating that opens well before the play starts.
“We get people who come as early as 6 p.m. to eat and talk before the show,” said Cook.
Those who are interested in seeing a performance should call 801-402-4611 to reserve tickets.
“It’s best to come early,” she said. “People who see the show always want to come back and bring their friends, but if they wait we end up sold out.”
