FARMINGTON — Thousands of library patrons on both sides of the Davis/Weber County line make use of each counties’ library.

That’s borne out as another interlocal agreement is due to be signed, soon, by officials from both counties, says Davis County Library Director Chris Sanford.

The annual agreement has been in place for a long time, .but is renewed every five years.

Sanford said 5,131 Davis County residents were registered with the Weber County system as of last year, and more than 50,000 items were checked out by those residents as of 2008.

Conversely, there were 5,006 active patrons from Weber County using the Davis County service, checking out 57,404 items last year.

“In terms of a reciprocal issue, our citizens take good advantage and use of both systems,” Sanford said.

The agreement was discussed as part of Tuesday’s Davis County Library Board meeting, here.

In other business, the board approved a change impacting only non-county residents who pay the $35 a year for a Davis County Library card.

Non-residents will now be able to have only one account per card, due to a change in library software, Sanford said.

Meanwhile, work on the schematic design phase continues for the new Headquarters/Farmington Branch Library that is due to be built within the next year.
