STATEWIDE — The local schools had a good showing in the state 5A softball tournament.

Viewmont 2 Hunter 0

Megan Peay led the Lady Vikings striking out 13 batters and knocked out a double from the plate.

Bailey Tyteca and Emily Robb also had a double each as Viewmont advanced with the exciting 2-0 win.

Bingham 4 Viewmont 0

In a re-match of last year’s 5A state final, Megan Peay gave up just seven hits to the potent Lady Miners as Viewmont fell 4-0.

Bingham pitching held the Lady Vikings to two hits.

Copper Hills 8 Viewmont 4

Copper Hills scored six of its eight runs in the late innings to turn back Viewmont.

Megan Peay led the Lady Vikings with a double while holding the Grizzlies in check until the sixth inning.

Davis 3 Skyline 2

After a loss to Lone Peak, Davis pitcher McKenzi McKay picked up the win as the Darts won in the top of the eighth inning to stay alive in the 5A tournament.

Region 1 rival Fremont ended the Lady Darts’ run edging Davis 5-4 in the next round of the tournament.
