NORTH SALT LAKE — An 8-year-old boy in Indiana was recently awarded a free reading program as part of Reading Horizons Lemons for Literacy donation program, and another 7-year-old boy is in need of the same help from the community.

Lemons for Literacy is a donation program for schools and other institutions to help struggling readers.

These two boys each have dyslexia. Reading Horizons’ reading software program is sent after organizations and individuals participate in Lemons for Literacy.

The goal of programs like Lemons for Literacy is to help these readers become self-sufficient. Many children in these situations are held back, not because they struggle with learning, but because they struggle with reading.

Reading Horizons’ current spotlight organization is called Project Read and is based in Utah County.

The organization provides individualized instruction in basic reading and writing skills to adults with low literacy skills.
