Sign ups are ongoing for the third session of Jr. Jazz basketball.
South Davis Recreation Jr. Jazz is the second largest youth basketball program in the state. Currently there are more than 2,500 participants that come from the five cities served: Bountiful, West Bountiful, Centerville, North Salt Lake and Woods Cross.
With registration participants will receive a reversible jersey, Utah Jazz game ticket, and Utah Jazz player appearance.
Games begin as early as Oct. 1 for first session and competitive leagues.

The South Davis Recreation Center will be looking for applications for teams to play in the upcoming basketball league.
Registration begins Oct. 1 with play beginning the first week of November.
Cost per teams is $500. Applications can be filled out at the Recreation Center, 500 North 200 West, Bountiful during business hours.

‘Save your Skin’ Race
A West Bountiful resident known as the “Blonde Runner” is looking for residents to sign up for a 10k race plus two mile walk in order to raise awareness about cancer. The race will be held Saturday, Sept. 25.
The walk will start at the West Bountiful Park off Pages Lane (1600 North) just west of I-15. Dry-wick shirt and bags will be given to those who pre-register. There will be age group awards and random prizes for race participants. Chip timed 10K & non-timed two mile fun walk. Flat out-and-back route.

Cowboy shooting event
The Cowboy Action Shooting Club is holding a fun activity for all local residents that will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25.
The event will be held at the Fruit Heights range and persons interested are encouraged to dress up for an old western shootout event.
There will also be an annual match called Rampage that typically draws 100 shooters from all over Utah.

Harmons ‘Walk with the Blind’ Fund-raiser
Harmons Grocery Stores, the Utah Lions Club Foundation and the Utah Foundation for the Blind are looking for sign ups for their first annual Walk with the Blind fund-raiser this Saturday, Sept. 25.
The event will be at the Holladay Lions Park, 1616 South Murray-Holladay Road and the adjacent Big Cottonwood East Park.
Event proceeds will benefit the Utah Lions Foundation charities and the Utah Foundation for the Blind.
Harmons is donating $5,000 to support the effort.
The event will include a 5K Fun Run and pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. at the Holladay Lions Park Pavilion. Participants can donate $20 to either escort a sightless person on an exploratory nature walk in the park, or to sponsor a sighted person who will be blindfolded and guided through the nature walk.

honored by UVU
Utah Valley University Athletics will be honoring a Bountiful resident during one of its soccer games. On Friday, Oct. 8, the UVU women’s soccer team will host Houston Baptist University. The game will be Hometown Hero Day featuring Senior Wolverine and Bountiful High graduate Taryn Eldredge.
Admission to the game will be free for anyone from Bountiful. Posters, featuring Taryn, will be given to the first 100 fans in attendance.
Oktoberfest men’s softball tournament
Registration is still going on for the men’s Oktoberfest Softball Tournament at the Clearfield Recreation Center.
The tournament will be held this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24-25, located at Steed Park, 300 North 1000 West, Clearfield, with a four game guarantee. The registration fee is $200 per team.
