“I saw the job announcement and it was closer to where I live, which was a big draw,” said Eggett of the decision to move. “It was also an opportunity to get a director position.”
Eggett said he started as an intern at West Bountiful and worked his way up. He has a master’s of public administration from the University of Utah and bachelor’s degrees in history and criminal justice from Weber State University.
“I’ve only been in the office for two days,” said Eggett of his first week. The rest spent in meetings. “It has been intense and quite an eye opening experience. This city is much bigger and is very challenging.”
Syracuse is looking to boost its economic development according to Eggett and that will be his main focus.
“I will be trying to reconnect with current businesses and maybe outside businesses,” he said. “We have enough retail, now we need to bring in more jobs for people closer to home.”
Eggett said he believes his new job will be a good experience overall.
“I’m hoping to have quite a few years to prove myself.”
West Bountiful had not announced a replacement for Eggett at press time.
