And the game is more meaningful to both teams than just a cross town rivalry.
Woods Cross currently is sitting in second place, just three points behind the East High Leopards for first place with two games to go in the season.
With East easily handling the Stansbury Stallions Thursday, and the Wildcats getting a two-goal victory against Olympus, the Region championship could easily come down to the final games of the regular season.
The Cats have performed well all season long. After a somewhat shaky 3-2 start to the regular season, they ripped off four wins in a row and won seven of their last eight games to pull into second place in Region 6.
Tiffany Trost has been a scoring machine for the Cats, with 11 goals in 13 contests.
Aarika Anderson has also done well for Woods Cross with nine goals in 13 games as they hope to repeat what was a hard fought 1-0 victory over the Braves in early September.
The Braves have also had a successful season so far, despite their record on paper. The Braves are 7-3 in Region 6 play as of Thursday and have 21 points, three points behind Woods Cross for second place in the region.
And even though they haven’t had a winning streak longer than three games all year, they have yet to lose two contests in a row either.
Bountiful’s success can be accounted for by Alexis Petersen, who leads the Braves with 13 goals in as many contests this year. Kennedy Merrick is second on the team with eight goals in 13 games played, as the duo have done well to keep Bountiful in the playoff hunt.
There is a chance the Braves can actually clinch a higher seed heading into the state 4A playoffs. A win over the Wildcats places them over Olympus and in third place.
With another victory against Stansbury on the following Thursday the Braves would tally a total of 27 points in Region 6, which could place them as high as second or even first after the regular season.
The last two games in Region 6 soccer for both teams could most likely determine which team will sit in which position heading into the post season.
