THREE YEARS of remodeling are almost over at South Davis Junior High School in Bountiful. The dingy gym is now a state-of-the-art shop, there are new computer labs, new classrooms, new lockers and new windows. Best of all, the portable classrooms outside are now empty. Parents attending Parent Teacher Conferences last week (above) were able to take a look at the improvements. “We’ll kind of miss them,” said assistant principal Jeffrey Jorgansen of those from Hogan & Associates Construction who worked at the school over the past three years. “There are a lot of good people -- they kind of became a part of us.” Photo by Louise R. Math requirements considered
SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah State Board of Education is looking at options for requiring high school seniors to take a math class and has voted to ask staff to consider various options. Currently, ninth through 12th graders must take three math classes. The board could require four years of classes, or could just require that one of the three years be completed in the senior year. It will next be considered at the board’s Nov. 5 meeting.
